Quiz: How much money are you wasting when you throw away food?
Every time you throw away food you’re throwing away money.
You may not think it is a lot, but every little bit adds up over the course of a year. It might be those uneaten leftovers which disappear in the back of the fridge only to resurface inedible a week later, or that buy 2 for $3 broccoli which turns yellow before you are ready to eat it, or that half eaten apple from your child’s lunchbox. Small actions like that result in the average New Zealand family throwing away 3 shopping trolleys worth of food every year. In an anonymous national survey 25% of us admitted to throwing away over $1,000 a year.
Take our food waste quiz to find out how much money you’re really throwing away when you waste your food.
