Grape and Apple Chutney

Grapes are not often found on the ingredient list for many recipes, but they star in this grape and apple chutney. Serve this alongside cheese or cold meat.

Ingredients

  • 500g grapes
  • 500g cored apples, chopped
  • 500g chopped onions
  • 400g sultanas
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch cayenne pepper

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to boil gently then cover and cook for one hour or until mixture is tender and thickened. Add a little more vinegar if necessary.
  3. Pour into hot clean jars and seal.
