How to store avocado and pumpkin without cling wrap

Some people face the dilemma of wanting to store their food in the best possible way while also wanting to avoid using cling wrap.

Love Food Hate Waste conducted research with the University of Otago to work out the best way to store vegetables to keep them fresher for longer.

One of the top performing products in our testing was cling wrap, which proved to be the best way to store avocados and pumpkin.

We advocate that people take care when using cling wrap so that it can be reused, and then when they are finished with it, recycle it through a soft plastic recycling scheme. Find your closest recycling location here.

However, if you are opposed to using cling wrap, these are two alternative ways to store avocados and pumpkin.

Avocado = Store in an airtight container

Pumpkin = Wrap in a reusable beeswax wrap (known as a Honeywrap) with the seeds removed
