Hot cross bun fruit crumble

Ingredients

  • 1 stale hot cross buns, broken into small chunks, roughly chopped into smaller pieces or pulsed a few times in the food processor
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 40g butter or coconut oil, melted
  • 250g stewed fruit or roughly chopped soft fruit

Method

  1. Heat oven to 180C bake or 160C fan bake. Prepare a small baking dish by lightly greasing it with oil or butter.
  2. Combine the crumbled hot cross buns, sugar, and melted butter or coconut oil in a bowl. Mix and set aside.
  3. Place fruit in the baking dish and lightly press down. Top with the crumble mixture.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the filling is bubbling and hot and the crumble is lightly toasted.
  5. Serve on its own or with ice cream, custard or your favourite ingredient to pair with crumble.
